With the hustle and bustle of life and work, clutter had taken over my home-based workspace. As a result, my ability to be productive was severely compromised. Although she never ‘physically’ visited my home office, Ellen Martin was able to virtually coach me and supply me with the tools I needed. She enabled me understand how to rearrange my office for more efficiency and gave me ideas I could not have seen on my own.
She not only helped me to sift through the clutter and get my space organized but also how to develop a system and the habits to keep it that way. Admittedly, I fell from grace but was easily able (on my own) to return to an organized space with the tools and exercises she gave me. And I now know how to decide what should stay and what to throw away along with what to do with the stuff I keep!
I recommend Ellen because she understands how clutter starts and the ways to ward it off for good. She taught me it was more than just ‘cleaning up’ but a mindset shift and a ‘new way of operating’ that would support my organized environment AND productivity.
Ellen has worked with me over the years on a few different projects. Initially she helped me get my office filing system organized/set up. We lost touch for a while and reconnected at an event last year where she was speaking and I realized that years later I was STILL using what she taught me. Late last year we started working together again, but this time our primary focus was developing procedures and increasing my productivity. I was not in a great place, constantly feeling like I could not get ahead and stressed to the max. If you had told me a year ago just how much my life and business would have improved, I may not have believed you. But they have. I am making huge strides in my business (and personal life – bonus!) and my stress level has plummeted. I have a clear vision and an actionable plan to achieve my goals. I highly recommend working with Ellen.
Before I started working with Ellen, I was feeling overwhelmed and frustrated in trying to get it all done. I knew what I should be doing to organize my business but somehow just couldn’t get it together. After just one call with Ellen, I felt a tremendous sense of relief.
Ellen took the time to really get to know me and my organization style. She keyed in right away that I wasn’t comfortable using some of the more traditional methods for organizing, knew that was probably why I wasn’t able to ‘get it together’ and worked with me to personalize a system that really spoke to my needs and style of organizing.
It felt so good to finally have a system that was organized around the way I think and work best and to not feel compelled to use something I knew wasn’t a good fit for me.
Ellen’s coaching has provided me with clarity and focus to really move my business forward and I am sincerely grateful to her for that. I finally feel like I’m able to maximize my productivity each day, allowing me to end my work days at a reasonable hour knowing I’ve accomplished what I’ve needed to do. That’s a tremendous feeling, but even more than that, working with Ellen has given me back time with my family where I can truly relax and enjoy that time without feeling stressed or pressured to be doing more at work. She helped me find the balance in my life again which is priceless!
Before working with Ellen, I was dealing with a huge case of “paper stress.” My family and I had moved to a home in 2001 that had less storage and filing capabilities than I was used to. Thus, boxes and boxes of files and paperwork just got shoved in closets and “hidden away.” This closet monster was always looming over me but I felt stuck and overwhelmed every time I attempted to remedy the problem.
Ellen was able to help me streamline what I was saving and learn to make more rational decisions about which paperwork to keep. Her ideas for quick access to important paperwork will make hurricane evacuations much less stressful. One of the biggest changes has been emotional as the stress of dealing with the paperwork that comes into my home has lessened dramatically. I now have a system to deal with it and even if it starts piling up when I’m out of town or overloaded, I know that it’s not an insurmountable problem, but one I can handle. Thanks, Ellen!
Working with Ellen has really helped me focus on establishing priorities and systematically work toward my ultimate goals. It has been invaluable to have someone like Ellen help hold me accountable and guide me along this path and to assist with evaluating all the small and large decisions encountered along the way to keep me on track… I can see that this experience has already helped me make permanent favorable changes that will stay with me for a long time to come.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for the time you save me by bringing your organizational skills to my life. Both in my home and professional life, I can better keep my priorities straight. I am more aware of the issues that need resolution immediately, and I am able to locate documents for review and disposition in a timely fashion. I wish I had met you sooner!!!
I cannot tell you how happy I was to tell [my colleagues] that my office is now clean and organized—no more stacks of papers on my desk, on my credenza, filing cabinet and floor! I felt like I could not say enough to truly express how much of a difference it has made in life and how wonderful it feels to finally be organized.
I also told [my colleagues] about the GO system and the Paper Tiger Software, which has enabled me to become organized and more productive. I told them that I would HIGHLY recommend you and your training! It has been worth every my minute of my time and every dollar that I have spent to accomplish what you have helped me to accomplish!
“Before Ellen”: Eager and ready to work on my yoga and related projects, I walk into my studio and my energy is instantly depleted. I feel there is too much out of place, too much still to do before I can concentrate on Yoga practice, or much of anything else.
“After Ellen”: I walk into my orderly space and I feel instantly rejuvenated.
Having my area organized helps me feel energized and I am able to maximize my time on working, rather than wasting time straightening up to be able to work. I am more productive, focused and can concentrate on whatever task I have set myself. The system Ellen has put in place helps me keep the area orderly and well-functioning, and I feel a sense of accomplishment whenever I enter it. Now I have both more time and more energy to do what I set out to do each day.
I’m always interested in new ways to become better organized and more efficient, and so I was excited to attend the GO System Seminar. The GO System is a simple and easy to follow way of organizing tasks and increasing productivity. It provides a proven approach to getting things done and eliminating procrastination. I have successfully implemented the system in my day job and plan to use it to help me accomplish more at home. In addition to doing an excellent job of teaching the principles of the GO System, Ellen shared a number of other ideas and a long list of valuable resources. I highly recommend the course!
I always thought that multi-tasking was a strength until I realized that I produce better results when I give my full attention to one task. The GO Systems Training helped put me on a behavior path in which I now do one thing at a time – well, almost!
Ellen Martin was such a help to me! I felt paralyzed to begin organizing anything. Ellen gave me much needed direction, focus, motivation, and ideas. Also, I had instant gratification! Sometimes, after the tragedy we’ve all endured [Hurricane Katrina] we just need a little help. Ellen was that help. Instead of focusing on loss I could focus on rebuilding our lives.
Thank you so much! I will highly recommend her to everyone!
Thank you so much for everything you did to help us get ready for our trip to England last month. You were a lifesaver, and we so enjoyed working with you. You’ll be pleased to know that we’ve started tackling the PAPERS, and this has been much more manageable thanks to you. Thank you again and we look forward to seeing you again when one or both of us is back in New Orleans!
You have been such a tremendous help. I feel liberated. It’s like having a clean conscience: no ugly surprises lurking in the piles of paper on my desk, no unfinished projects stacked in corners, no drawers filled with useless bits and pieces of who-knows-what. Now, I can actually find what I’m looking for, I can get dressed in a hurry when I need to, and I don’t have to worry if somebody drops in unexpectedly. What a relief! And the system we worked out together takes advantage of my space and my personality and habits. It may not work for anybody else but it seems to be working for me. That kind of personalized attention has really made the difference. Thank you.
